Administration on Aging (AoA)

Access information about the agency and the Older Americans Act, the federal legislation establishing the AoA and authorizing a range of programs that offer services and opportunities for older Americans and their caregivers.  The Elders and Families page provides information and resources on a variety of aging-related topics, and the services and opportunities available to assist them.

AARP

AARP is a nonprofit, nonpartisan membership organization for people age 50 and over.  The webpage includes information and resources for issues of interest to older adults, their families, caregivers and employers.

Alliance on Family Caregiving

A national resource on family caregiving with the goal of improving the quality of life for families and care recipients

Alzheimer’s Disease - Fisher Center

Alzheimer’s Disease news from the Fisher Center Research Foundation.

Alzheimer’s Association

National Alzheimer’s Disease webpage provides links to Alzheimer’s information, resources and on-line chat rooms.

Benefits CheckUp

Benefits CheckUp allows you to find and enroll in federal, state, local and private programs that help pay for prescription drugs, utility bills, meals, health care and other needs.  This is a web-based service to screen for benefits programs for seniors with limited income and resources.  You may also contact the Program Coordinator in the Elderbridge office nearest you for assistance with this search.

Caregiver Corners

Elderbridge maintains a selection of books and other materials that address caregiving issues in at least one library in each of the twenty counties it serves.  For a detailed list of libraries and resources, click on link at left.

CareGiversCount

An online resource for non-partisan information about legislation and laws impacting caregivers and their families.


Disease Control

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s online source for health information.

Elder Affairs

The website for the Iowa Department of Elder Affairs contains information on many issues affecting older adults in Iowa.  It also has numerous links to other relative sites with more detailed information.

Elderbridge Lending Library

Each of the Elderbridge offices maintains resources on aging issues that may be borrowed by anyone interested in aging issues.  To access a list of materials available in each office, click on the link at left.

GovBenefits

 

GovBenefits.gov offers information and links to benefit programs you may be eligible to receive to assist with a variety of needs including food/nutrition, education, housing, disaster assistance, unemployment/job training, healthcare, small business, and more.

Iowa Association of Area Agencies on Aging webpage provides links to information, guidance in decision-making, and assistance in finding services for yourself or your parent, spouse, relative or friend. The site also offers a search function for aging services by county, service type or key work.

Iowa Alzheimer’s Association

Alzheimer’s Disease webpage provides links to Alzheimer’s information, resources and support in Iowa.

Iowa Family Caregiver

The Iowa Family Caregiver Support Program puts you in touch with essential services to help you in your caregiving role and to meet the needs of your older loved one.  The site also offers a search function for aging services by county, service type or key work.

Medicare

The official U.S. Government site for people on Medicare.

Medicaid

The official U.S. Government site for information on the Medicaid program benefits and eligibility.  Medicaid helps pay for health care for low-income individuals and families who fit into certain eligibility groups.

Extensive library of information concerning Eldercare and other caregiving issues.  Free access for caregivers with hundreds of articles, forms, checklists and links to topic-specific external resources.


Webpage provides information on healthy aging and maintaining independence.  Links to online newsletter with health, lifestyle, and financial tips.

National Family Caregivers

Provides information, support, and advocacy for those who care for loved ones with a chronic illness or disability or the frailties of old age.

A-Z index of NIH health resources, clinical trials, MedlinePlus, and health hotlines.

The National Self-help

Provides information about and referral to self-help support groups and regional self-help clearinghouses

Official website for the Social Security Administration provides information and online application for SSA programs.

Official information and services available from the U.S. government.  The link at left goes directly to the page for senior resources.
